Very Good
Location
Ardoe House Hotel & Spa is a luxurious travel destination that enjoys a prime location amidst the stunning Scottish countryside. The lovely venue with its beautiful building and scenic grounds, is an ideal place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. The hotel's lovely furnishings and set-in-very-nice-grounds positioning have been complemented by guests time and again. While the short drive to the city places it conveniently close to Aberdeen's attractions, it still provides the much-needed peacefulness that city-living tends to lack. With lovely scenery, a castle that's a sight to behold and some attractive parks and visitor centres in the vicinity, Ardoe House Hotel & Spa's excellent location will undoubtedly enhance the travelling experience of anyone staying here.
Breakfast
The breakfast at Ardoe House Hotel & Spa received mixed reviews from guests. While some described it as sensational, amazing, scrumptious and delicious, others found it limited, disorganised and overpriced. The breakfast was served as a self-service buffet with a large selection of hot and cold options, pastries and a variety of teas, coffees and juices. However, some guests found certain items missing, such as tea pots, yogurt and fruit bowls with some food running out quickly before being refilled. The coffee machine was broken on occasion and hot food was not always kept at the right temperature. Vegetarians found the breakfast options limited, but those who ordered poached eggs and croissants were pleased with the quality. Overall, while the breakfast wasn't perfect, it was an enjoyable addition to an otherwise pleasant stay at the hotel.
Dinner
The Ardoe House Hotel & Spa provides a dinner experience with beautiful presentation and great taste. However, some guests found that the meal could have been hotter and improvements to the restaurant food would be appreciated. The restaurant serves dinner only until 20h30 and food in the bar until 21h, but some found the drinks to be very expensive. Unfortunately, some guests received dry steaks, salty chicken and cold porridge which had to be returned to the kitchen. Guests also mentioned that the food and alcohol prices were rather expensive and the restaurant was overpriced given the quality provided. While some guests found the dinner to be worth every penny, others found the food to be totally mediocre for the price charged. Some guests preferred to eat out as the dinner menu lacked selection and had no ability to change. The bar food was also not amazing and was quite pricey. The inexperienced staff provided service that did not justify the high prices.
Rooms
The rooms at Ardoe House Hotel & Spa have received praise from guests for their gorgeous and spacious features. Many have noted that the beds are extremely comfortable and the decor is lovely and tastefully decorated. Some guests have also mentioned the luxurious feel of the rooms. However, there have been some comments about the size of the duvet covers being too narrow for the beds. Despite this, the rooms are generally described as clean, tidy and well-presented. Guests have also appreciated the modern facilities, such as fridges with complimentary drinks and coffee makers. The showers have been a particular highlight for some with guests describing them as amazing. Some guests have noted that the rooms can be cold, but the welcoming staff and relaxed atmosphere make up for this. The hotel itself is stunning with many guests praising the beautiful building and picturesque surroundings. All in all, Ardoe House Hotel & Spa is a great choice for those looking for a comfortable and modern stay in a luxurious setting.
Beds
Ardoe House Hotel & Spa boasts some of the comfiest beds around with confirmed guests raving about the amazing comfort of the huge beds. Many guests have noted that the beds are extremely comfortable and that they enjoyed fantastic nights' sleep during their stay. Even those that encountered minor issues, such as a too-small duvet or less-than-perfect pillows, still found the beds to be very comfortable overall. Additionally, guests have mentioned that the rooms themselves are spacious with many lovely beds on offer. If you're looking for a good night's sleep during your stay in Aberdeen, Ardoe House Hotel & Spa is definitely a strong contender.
Cleanliness
The Ardoe House Hotel & Spa boasts fabulous facilities located in a lovely location with friendly staff. While some guests found the rooms, bathrooms and main areas to be beautifully appointed and very clean, others had negative experiences with cleanliness. Some guests noted that the hotel was in need of a little more TLC when it comes to cleaning with some carpets stained and surfaces and windows needing a wash. A few guests even found cobwebs on the ceiling and dried blood on the duvet cover and sheets. Nonetheless, the majority of guests found the facilities to be very clean and the changing rooms to be very well looked after. Guests generally found the staff to be very pleasant, although the housekeeping service could be improved.
Staff
The staff at Ardoe House Hotel & Spa received mixed reviews from guests. Many guests described the staff as amazing, friendly, helpful and attentive, especially the bar and cleaning staff and the pool/spa staff. However, some guests felt that the staff were poorly trained, inexperienced or disinterested in guests, particularly those staying for the weekend instead of at weddings or private functions. Some guests also noted a lack of staff or poor management. Despite these issues, several guests highlighted individual staff members who went above and beyond to provide excellent customer service, such as a housekeeper named Holly who made a guest's stay with their dogs extra special. Overall, the staff's customer service at Ardoe House Hotel & Spa was largely dependent on the individual staff member encountered.
Spa
Guests have had mixed experiences with the Ardoe House Hotel & Spa's spa facilities. For some, the swimming pool, saunas and jacuzzi were a highlight and a fabulous addition to their stay. The gym was also praised by many. The friendly and kind pool/spa staff also received positive mentions. Some guests even took advantage of the massages offered at the spa, highly recommending them. However, for others, the spa facilities were not what they were expecting and could be better or in need of updating. Some guests were disappointed that there were no gowns provided in their rooms and that the spa was located in a separate building requiring them to leave the hotel. Overall, the location of the spa was lovely and the food and rooms were also praised by guests.
Pool
Guests have praised the swimming pool at Ardoe House Hotel & Spa for its great size and pleasant water temperature. Many have also appreciated the lengthy opening hours of the indoor, heated pool located within the hotel's leisure centre. However, some guests found the pool area to be noisy and dated with limited facilities for children. Those who ventured to the separate building housing the 18-metre pool were pleased with its quality but noted that it required walking outside in cold, wet weather. While some guests have enjoyed the sauna, jacuzzi and steam room, others reported issues with their functionality and cleanliness. Despite these minor setbacks, the pool area was generally clean and well-maintained, making it a highlight of the hotel for many visitors.
Family
Families with children and pets will thoroughly enjoy a stay at the Ardoe House Hotel & Spa. With great grounds to walk around, it's also dog-friendly which means you can bring your furry friend along. The comfortable and accommodating rooms make it perfect for a night away from parents, particularly for a special family celebration. While transport may be required to get around, the lovely location and helpful staff more than make up for it. It's worth noting that while the cost of the family meal was higher than the cost of the rooms, the garden was great for pets and accommodating for little ones. Unfortunately, under 16's are not allowed to use the jacuzzi or sauna. Overall, Ardoe House is a great choice for last-minute stays with pets and kids for any family reasons.
4 Star
Ardoe House Hotel & Spa is a beautiful location that promises a wonderful business and leisure venue for visitors. However, there were some mixed reviews on the hotel's 4-star rating, as some guests felt that it fell short of their expectations. Some guests described their stay as superb and good with others finding it quite enjoyable but suggesting a few areas for improvement. Unfortunately, some guests had experiences that were shocking for a four-star hotel with complaints about rooms and poor treatment of booking.com customers. Despite these negative experiences, others found it to be a fair 4-star hotel, good or very good and great value for money. The hotel's reputation suggested top-class luxury, but some claimed that it was not quite up to the standard of a four-star hotel, while others stated that all little things were not up to par. But overall, it came very close to being perfect due to its stunning location and beautiful setting.
Historic
Ardoe House Hotel & Spa is a charming, historical property that has been converted from a mansion to a grand castle. The building, which oozes history and features old fireplaces, artwork and a clock in the dining room, is a sight to behold. Guests love the grand nature of the property and its gorgeous architecture, which transports them back in time. The hotel is also in a lovely location and it's interesting to note that James, a staff member, was particularly knowledgeable about the history of the house. Guests can't get enough of the beautiful old building and its lovely castle style. Although there have been a few issues at check-in, this luxurious hotel is still definitely worth a visit for those seeking a piece of history.
Dog Friendly
If you're traveling with your furry friend, look no further than Ardoe House Hotel & Spa - a brilliant, dog-friendly hotel located in a lovely spot. They have spacious rooms for dog owners with easy access outdoors, making it perfect for dogs to roam around. The garden is also a great place for dogs to play in and guests have mentioned that their pets loved it! Dogs are allowed in most areas of the hotel and are made to feel very welcome. Guests have also expressed their appreciation for the caring and thoughtful staff, particularly Holly from housekeeping who went above and beyond to make sure guests and their dogs enjoyed their stay. One guest mentioned that while they had to eat in the drawing room due to their dog, the tables were uncomfortable. However, this did not detract from their overall experience. It's worth noting there is a £10 dog charge per dog, plus an additional charge for dog cleaning when checking out. Nonetheless, guests have remarked that bringing their dogs was not a problem at Ardoe House. Overall, it's a fantastic hotel for you and your furry companion.
