Key initiatives include: 1. Commitment to fair trade principles and championing local wherever possible (with regards to suppliers, sponsorships, employment and more) 2. Growing a large portion of herbs in-house, increasing use of organic produce and environmentally friendly cleaning products 3. Installation of water and energy efficient fixtures such as tap ware to lighting; low-emission domestic hot water production; zero-carbon air-conditioning; as well as a reticulated rainwater system for irrigation and toilets 4. Green-rated and/or eco-labelled building materials including paints, carpets and steel 5. Waste management efforts including use of waste compactors, plastic bottle recycling, and intuitive garbage chutes to direct recyclables out of landfill.
